Winter is here in full swing and so is 2017! The new year brings with it a new set of goals and healthy skin, is an all-time favorite. The dry air that comes with winter is NOT skin-friendly and makes your skin dry and patchy.
Here are the few tips to keep your skin moist, healthy and youthful this winter.
Keep a tab of your water intake
Come winters and you forget to drink as much water as you did in the summer season. Most experts suggest that drinking water, at least 2 liters a day keeps your system clear and adds a glow to your skin. While the instinct today is to up your caffeine intake with coffee and cocoa, it can make you dehydrated. I keep a liter of lukewarm water to keep up my water intake. Drinking lemon-infused or cucumber-infused water is also an interesting option.
Since pollution is at an all-time high, make sure you use a water purifier. If you think it’s been long since you’ve replaced it, check out water purifiers online like Kent Purifiers that offer the best of technology.
Moisturize your skin well
The drier the air, the drier your skin is. Choose an oil-based moisturizing cream instead of a water-based lotion. This will help maintain the elasticity and tautness of your skin. Use it right after your shower as it will lock the moisture into your skin before it dries completely.

Use a layer of sunscreen for added protection
Sun damage is a concern for your skin through the year so it’s best to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen through the year. Apply it 30 minutes before going out, and then, re-apply it if you are out in the sun for a longer time. For our Top 6 sunscreen picks of all times, click here.
Load up on Winter Foods
While you are drinking plenty of water, it is also important to have the right kind of food during the winter. Have your daily fill of dried fruits, such as almonds, raisins, apricots, walnuts, flaxseeds and chia seeds. Seasonal vegetables and fruits are also good for skin.
Use DIY face pack ideas
You can make your own natural, hydrating face packs at home. This is one of the best ways to keep your skin healthy in a natural way. For instance, use a mixture of egg white, honey and olive oil to moisturize your skin. You can also use a mix of milk, honey and yogurt on your face and neck for hydration.
