Thanks for tuning in to our 7 day skincare special! Today is the fifth day, and a day to literally take stock of your makeup essentials. That’s right: cleaning up your cosmetic drawer i.e. makeup brushes, bottles, sponges and beauty blenders is of importance and will help you get better looking, healthy skin.
PS: This step will only give optimal results after Day 1, 2, and 3 and 4. This is a part of our extensive skincare regime for Be For Beauty’s Beauty special this month.
Day 5 To Better Your Skin: Clean Up Your Cosmetics on Friday
Like suiting up in sweaty workout clothes post-shower, slapping on ancient make-up is no way to treat freshly groomed skin. Even the best foundation won’t glide on the way it’s supposed to, if it’s old. And as bacteria breed inside those crusty tubes, slicking old makeup on your face can clog pores, cause irritation or even a sty.
Is there an expiry date for makeup?
Actually there is. You can check out our feature on how long you should ideally use makeup products.
While you’re sipping your morning beverage, line up any make-up tubes and bottles that you haven’t replaced within the past 3 months. But get rid of anything that’s separated or smells off. Pay close attention to gel liners, mascaras, concealers and any other liquids.
Is it essential to wash your brushes?
Absolutely. If your make-up brushes are stiff, matted and caked, they can cause tiny breaks and tears around your pores Not washing these can lead to pimples. Wash your makeup brushes, sponges and beauty blenders. Read this feature to get tips on how to clean each of these within 5 minutes.
