Hi guys!
Today we’re going to be talking about IMBB or Indian Makeup and Beauty, a blog by Rati Tehri Singh.
About the Blog
A recent blog post about celebrating anniversaries tells me that the blog was started by Rati and husband Sanjiv over 7 years ago when there obviously weren’t too many bloggers in India. There’s nobody better who’ll understand this because my sister and I were solo bloggers on Talk To The Wall when there was no concept of blogging, journalling or even writing in India. Back in the day, the publishing industry and the blogosphere were completely different, and we too, faced many challenges like Rati and Sanjiv.
My recollection of IMBB is synonymous with spending hours writing for my blog and magazines I used to work for. Many times, I find myself looking up specific beauty products, makeup trends and there are very few sites from India that make it to my list–one of those few websites is makeupandbeauty.com.
Look and Design: IMBB
Indian Makeup and Beauty has a very simple layout that doesn’t take too many seconds to load. They come straight to the point– the homepage features about 5-7 full-length reviews featuring the latest from the world of beauty. As a beauty blogger who tries a lot of products myself, I can easily spend a few minutes here.
However, I do wish the layout was prettier and more current in today’s time. I either have access to Top 10 Recent Posts or to Archives if I want to read something more than those 10 posts.
Their sub-domain, Faux Pas, a more recent launch into personal style diaries by Rati, features a much more current and appealing design. The Look Book section also features some of their travel experiences along with beautiful shoots with Indian fashion designers, popular labels and kitsch brands that can make any girl aspire to travel!
Here is a snippet of her photo shoot from one of her earlier posts in 2016.

How’s the content on IMBB?
If I look at the sheer vastness, I’d say it’s one blog that has most of the beauty product reviews that have been launched since 2011.
Not just limited to makeup swatches, extensive ingredient lists and very honest feedback on usage, the blog also has helpful tips to give–one of my favorites is on saving a dried, gel eyeliner.

How’s the writing on IMBB?
Be it Rati or her hardworking team, the writing is very honest, to the point that they disclose if products were bought or were given for review purposes, or if it’s a sponsored post for that matter. The picture (above) is from one of the reviews recently done by the team.
The blogs are brutally honest when it comes to usage and application which is what readers love. But as a published writer and a fellow blogger, I feel the writing and editing standards definitely have room for improvement.
Having said that, they definitely know their shades of foundation at the back of their hand–and if you’re here to read a product review BEFORE buying it, you’re in safe hands.
IMBB: A Community
It’s absolutely heartwarming to see IMBB’s readership: faithful fans and readers who have been a part of Rati and Sanjiv’s journey.
