If you haven’t watched Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s insanely popular and critically acclaimed show, Made In Heaven, you’re missing out on an insightful story about relationships that are held together by the binding forces of insecurity, greed, and an insatiable need for social mobility. Made In Heaven also had a serious style game upped by our favourite protagonist, Tara Khanna.
Made In Heaven: Best Of Tara Khanna’s Looks
In season one of Made In Heaven, our protagonist Tara Khanna (played by the supremely gorgeous Sobhita Dhulipala), alternates between two style personalities: her well-to-do South Delhi current self, who wore some sharp couture blazers, well-fitted pleated skirts and a few crisp shirts that are any fashion lover’s dream, and her former-financially weak self, employed as an unimportant secretary to a millionaire boss, seen mostly in black jeans, boring flats and plunging ill-fitted blouses. In her struggle to launch herself as a force to reckon with in the wedding business while juggling a cheating husband, backstabbing friends, and, over-bearing in-laws, Tara’s clothing became a huge part of the narrative—and for us fashion fans, it also gave us lots of ideas for bringing those looks into 2019. All of Tara Khanna’s stunning outfits were expertly styled by Poornamrita Singh. If you too loved her look, here are a few ways you can dress like Tara Khanna too…
So without further ado, we are about to give you a masterclass in acing the art of power dressing inspired by yours truly, Tara Khanna:
1. Embrace yellow & other bright colours
A well-fitted blazer is a work wardrobe staple but do you know how you can truly create magic with it? By opting for blazers in off-beat colours like yellow or forest green just like Tara Khanna. We love how this yellow blazer is paired with striped pants, simple navy blue stilettos matched with a tote in the same hue!
2. Tara Khanna shows us how the LBD is so passé
Trust us when we say this that the reign of the LBD is over. More and more women are opting for dresses in bright or bold colours-think a fuchsia, lavender or this emerald number right here! Invest your hard earned cash in a gorgeous midi like this one with dramatic sleeves for that extra class.
3. Add A Pleated Skirt To Your Wardrobe
After getting the street style seal of approval, the pleated skirt has made it huge on the high street fashion game too. All of us at BeForBeauty have collectively decided this is the skirt length we’ll be wearing all year round. A pleated skirt paired with a silk blouse or a plain t-shirt can get you noticed for having an impeccable fashion sense. (Yes, you’re welcome!)
4. Denim on Denim for the win!
Just in case you thought denim-on-denim was out of your reach, Tara Khanna shows us how to masterfully rock this trend. All you need to recreate this look is a faded collared top that is to be tucked into high-waisted jeans!
Remember: Pairing two different shades of denim is always key. No need for excessive accessories with this one—part of what makes it perfect is the casual airiness about it!
5. Nothing ever beats a saree, afterall!
Without a shadow of doubt, this is my favourite look from the entire season. There is something SO elegant about a red saree, matched with a maroon blouse, accessorised a statement polki necklace & finished off with red bangles! This traditional manner of adorning a saree was a change we din’t even know we needed until we saw Tara in this scene. This is what sartorial dreams are made of!
