I’m going to take over the Entertainment Round Up this month. We’re going to dive straight into one of my favorite shows that have been spoken about all month: The Kapil Sharma Show.
The Big Controversy on The Kapil Sharma Show
The show has been in the limelight for all the wrong reasons. The team is falling apart, the shows are rumored to be cancelled. Needless to say, the saying “No publicity is bad publicity,” doesn’t apply here.
What really happened between Sunil Grover and Kapil Sharma
Based on the numerous reports I’ve read online, Kapil Sharma got drunk in the business class while on a tour with his team. He allegedly abused his entire team because they started eating dinner without him (what’s the big deal?) and the spat got ugly.
It is also said that he physically assaulted Sunil Grover and later flung a shoe at him too (how very parliamentarian of you). The situation clearly got out of hand, and later what transpired has been nightmarish. While I strongly believe that there is no point washing your dirty linen in public, the Twitter dialogue between the two actors added more fuel to the fire.

Like any other couple: they first unfollowed each other and then wrote about each other publicly. The Twitter rambles were seriously unnecessary to my mind. Kapil’s bad behavior has also compelled Ali Agsar and Chandan Prabhakar (who is incidentally Kapil’s childhood friend) to also quit the show. There is conjecture that the show might be shut down.
Kapil tried to avoid this news, by posting the picture of his lady love but it was all in vain. He had hoped for a camouflage; however, people saw right through this move.
You know why I know so much, unfortunately, I followed the news on this more closely than the demonetization issue or the US elections. Why? Because this one directly affects me. I really love the show and as an audience am sincerely disappointed. It is evident that TKSS is not a one-man show, and if any of the “significant” team members walk away then it has practically no future.
Kapil Sharma made a mistake. Mistakes happen under the influence of alcohol. We all know that. But we all don’t choose to throw shoes and get violent publically. A 108 crore deal for the show has made Kapil Sharma arrogant. Yes, power and money have the potential to do so.
In my opinion, Sunil Grover is right to be hurt, but an emotional fool to use Twitter as a platform to vent his feelings.
What happened to Sunil Grover was unfair and uncalled for.
But throwing away a great act rather than salvaging the show that made you who you are, may NOT always pay off. In the past, he’s tried to run a one-man show which failed miserably. Of course, the last two episodes were epic disasters and I think it is a bit immature on the cast’s part to not separate out personal rivalry from professional ethics. The show’s success is based on cohesiveness and it has been a proven fact that these actors cannot survive without each other.
We’re now hearing news of TKKS being shut down and Sunil starting a solo show with Colors Today. I think this drunken brawl has cost him more than we all expected.
For the sake of the audience, I sincerely hope that they can find peace and resume my connect with India through YouTube.
Best of Koffee with Karan Season 5
Who knew that TKSS and KWK would be linked in any way? Strangely they were – while one is about to get shut down the Season 5 came to a close for this one, and who was the final guest on his show – none other than Kapil Sharma himself.
March really had just one guest episode and two episodes around favorite episode and Koffee awards. The Kapil episode was rather sweet, Kapil carried his usual swag and looked quite sophisticated which is contrary to his normal demeanor. His appearance most definitely speaks volumes about his success – it was evident that he has arrived. Kapil answered most of the questions in Hindi and he was quite unapologetic about his true self. It was a rather sweet appearance with absolutely no controversy. Controversy followed later on the Melbourne flight.
Among the other two episodes, I found the later one, the solo one much better. I mean who are these people – Malaika, Neha, AIB comedian and Ayaan? Who are they? Were they judging on our behalf – if that was the case they were really off.
You can consider me the judge, and here are the real winners:
Best Dressed Male: Shahid Kapoor or maybe Aditya Roy Kapoor
Shahid’s pants were just too tight whereas Adi’s were more about comfort fit.
Best Dressed Female: Alia Bhatt
Not the white suit but the body-hugging printed dress can be relatable to all Anokhi/Modern Indian fashionistas.
Best Debut: Jacqueline Fernandez, Twinkle Khanna
Twinkle was super witty and both me and Manavi loved Jacqueline was positive and all about good vibes!
Best Comic: Ranbir Kapoor
Come on… so very witty!
Special Award – Arjun Kapoor (as decided by this jury)
You need to give him an award for all the free time he had to come on every episode!
Lifetime award: Kareena Kapoor (as decided by this jury)
Prego needed some love too…
Best Performance female: Farah Khan
Her FOMO and her Karan impression at parties were mind blowing.
Best Performance Male: Salman Khan & Best Episode – 100th episode
The three brothers were hilarious!
