I have a zit to pick on.
I don’t usually misuse my power as a lifestyle writer and beauty blogger. I mostly stay away from writing negative reviews but I’m so disappointed after using this one product, called OxyLife, I had to write it.
Why am I even using bleach?
To tell you the truth, I subscribe to about 50 beauty bloggers on YouTube and a few of them randomly spoke about bleaching. The last time I bleached my face or the hair on my face would be in college. The smell of activator and the pulsating sensations that are almost as bad as electric shocks left me scarred.
With time passing by, the beauty industry would have now figured out a way to color your body hair gold. Right? Right? Wrong.
Since my pharmacy was out of Jolen (a brand I got used at Mummy’s friend’s beauty parlor), he sent me Oxylife (also known as Oxybleach) by Dabur.
I found the packaging to be minimal: it is green, meaning they claim to add aloe vera. Inside, they had a box of cream, a vial of activator and sachets of “serum” to be applied after bleaching-shleaching.
Mix and Apply
So I put it on my upper lip, chin and sides of my face that have been blessed by my Sindhi hormones.
It didn’t really burn and I wiped it off after 15 minutes. The results were negligible. An hour, I felt a bump on my chin. Humph. Inflammation probably. Then I felt another one, and another one. Three zits on my otherwise clear face. A fourth one came to join this sad party on my upper lip the next day.
So much so for even-toned skin.
So all you people out there: please consider this review. Bleaching can really reverse your even-toned skin plan if it doesn’t suit you. If you have sensitive skin or skin that breaks out really easily, avoid using Oxybleach.
And what about me?
What was I thinking, bleaching my mustache in Movember? Ha? Ha? God only knows. He knows. So he gave me some party poopers.
I’m going to stick to DIY: a bit of turmeric in my gram flour pack or just use honey-lemon as natural bleach. #lessonlearnt.
