Review: Acqua di Gio Profumo

Review: Acqua di Gio Profumo

ADG_PROFUMOFirst up, I was very excited to review this perfume in particular. Acqua di Gio Profumo is designed to be worn for men. Which means I absolutely had to try it. 🙂

Concept
It was back in 1996 when Armani presented its most popular, masculine fragrance, Acqua di Gio. Nearly 20 years later, comes a new version made by iconic perfume maker, Alberto Moriilas—Acqua di Gio Profumo.

What to expect
So is it aquatic? If only perfume making was so simple. Apparently, the fragrance is ideally to symbolize a moment in particular: when the big, blue waves of the Mediterranean Sea meet the black rocks that guard the seaside. The perfume obviously has notes of the sea, given that its inspiration lies in the bottom of the ocean, but it’s more than that. The spicy and incense notes give it that level of sophistication to be worn by men in their thirties or forties. Or Jason Morgan. 🙂

Be For Beauty thinks Jason Morgan symbolises the ADG man.

 The Bottle

Unlike Acqua di Gio Essenza and Pour Homme, the bottle sports black: probably paying homage to black rocks on the sea. With a minimalistic design and a magnet cap, the bottle does add a bit of edge and danger on my dresser. It’s a good contrast from the pink lipsticks and nude highlighters and foundations. Notes

Top notes: Bergamot and Sea Notes
Heart notes: Geranium, Rosemary and Sage
End notes: Patchouli and Incense

I guess the parallel of the sea is the most apparent just when you spray Profumo. For me, the Bergamot present in the EDP softens up the mood a bit. While the spices are very much present, they are not too overpowering. On the contrary, the three most apparent whiffs were Sea Notes, Bergamot and Incense.

The only problem I found is the sillage (pronounced as see-yazh). I usually spray 4-5 times on pulse points (wrist, back of neck and ears), but this perfume leaves little to no trail after wearing it for a few hours. Mind you, this could also be happening due to the heat and humidity in Delhi. This, in comparison to ADG’s predecessors is a bit disappointing.

Price Range: Rs 6,400 for 70 ml

First Impression? Yum.

Will it give me a headache? Nope. It’s made by an Italian

Will the bottle look nice on my dresser? Yes for girls, pretty much the same for guys.

Should I pick it up at the Duty Free? I would.

PS: Thank you to Evita and Peepul Team
