Hi, my beauties!
Today I’m going to talk about why we should exfoliate and the product which I’ve started using to do so. Removing dead skin cells from your skin is the most significant part of skin care which most of us run away from as the myth says “it causes dryness”. Nevertheless, I was really eager to include a scrub in my routine so I started using the Biotique BXL Cellular Rehydrating Scrub as it also promises to tighten pores, which I really needed.
About Biotique: Biotique is an Indian skin care brand by Vinita Jain who lived in the lush foothills of Himalayas. As the name suggests, Biotique uses a blend of ayurvedic therapies and Swiss bio-technology. Their products are made of 100% organically-pure, preservative-free ingredients and renewable resources, blended and cultivated in the oh-so peaceful Himalayas. It has two skin care lines, Biotique Advance and Biotique Botanical. The best part, you ask? No animal testing!
Pappaya, Banana and Date Pulp: Fruit extracts are an awesome way to slough off dead skin and rehydrate your skin. Summer favourites like papita and kela help reduce dryness and make your skin feel supple and fresh. They are great sources of Vitamin A and can do wonders for your skin.
Neem Bark: All ayurvedic brands consider anything neem as their go-to, best-selling product for skin care. It has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties and is best for acne prone skin.
Beeswax: One of the best benefits of using beeswax on the skin is the moisturizing and the softening. It contains Vitamin A and provides long-term moisturizing, actually locking moisture into the skin.
Other ingredients include: Kikar Gum, Moongphali Oil, Purified Water, Methi Seeds, Yashad Bhasm, Banhaldi Rhizome, Aam Beej.
How to use: The package says massage on wet face and neck with circular, upward/outward strokes. Avoid eye area. Rinse off. The package says you can use it daily, but I use it as an exfoliater once a week.
My experience: Considering the age I started my skincare in(I am 19), I took the longest time to include a scrub in my skincare regime. I looked around for paraben-free and ayurvedic products because I didn’t want to harm my skin. Cut to the Biotique BXL Cellular Rehydrating Scrub, it has changed my skincare routine.
My first wash with this scrub was when I fell in love with it. I could see the difference in how my skin felt; soft as a baby’s bottom.
It did nothing for the pores for quite sometime. But making it a staple in my skincare regime was the best decision as I could see my pores diminishing eventually. The packaging says it’s ideal for removing tan but I didn’t have a tan before I started using it so I can’t say what it does for that.
The packaging is impressive; elegant and travel friendly. It’s paraben free, cruelty free and dermatologically tested.
Should you exfoliate even when you have dry skin?
I don’t think I can ever use exfoliaters on my dry skin, maybe it’ll rip it off and make it worse?
This question haunted me in my teens, since using harsh scrubs can really dry out your skin. What scrubs basically do is to remove the dead skin cells which clog the pores of your skin and let them breathe. This also helps in other skin care products to go deep into your skin and do their job instead on staying on the surface and clogging more pores. It will eventually cause fewer breakouts and stimulate new cell production. They key is to not overdo it otherwise it can actually harm your skin and make it dry.
