Skincare Diaries: Beauty Influencer Shraddha Gurung Shares Her Skincare & Quarantine Routine

When it comes to skincare, I couldn’t skip interviewing a beauty influencer. While I got to know her at POPxo, Shraddha Gurung’s work on YouTube (check out hundreds of videos she produced for POPxo) and her Instagram will tell you a lot about her expertise in beauty. With 100K followers, Shraddha Gurung has got beautiful skin and a great attitude. Often tackling mental health, trolling and other sensitive issues, her makeup videos and her glowing skin are always on-point. Join me as she shares her skincare and quarantine routine.

Q: I know you a little, but please introduce yourself and what you do.

Answer: My name is Shraddha Gurung, but I like to go by the name LilMissGurung on social media. I’m 23 years old, and I started my journey in the beauty industry over three years ago at POPxo, where I started in the talent team and then moved on to becoming a beauty producer. It’s been a year since I’ve quit the job and I’ve been an independent content creator and freelancer ever since.

Q: Are there particular ingredients that have always been a part of your skincare routine?

Answer: I’ve always moisturized and drank a lot of water which has helped my facial skin the most! I started extensive skincare only a year and a half ago so I’m still figuring out the ingredients that I like and would like to explore. Tea tree, hyaluronic acid, green tea have been the key factors of my purchase for now.

Q: What’s your summer skincare routine?

Answer: I don’t like using a lot of products in the summer so I stick to a cleansing foam face wash like The Body Shop Tea Tree Foaming Face Wash and I follow it up with a moisturizer. My favourites are Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream, Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum, Nivea Moisturizing Cream mixed with sunscreen. I do the same on the body too(never leave the rest of your body!)

I like to use overnight sleep masks like Innisfree’s Youth Enriching Sleeping Mask With Orchid to keep my skin cool at night. Apart from that, I’m a big fan of aloe vera. I alternate it with my sleep masks.

Q: Please tell us your quarantine skincare routine and hair routine.

Answer: I use Kama Ayurveda Rose And Jasmine Cleanser and load up my face with a serum. I usually use Kama Ayurveda Kumkumadi Miraculous Beauty Fluid/Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair/Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum) and a moisturizer during the day. At night, I mix two serums and a different moisturizer or sometimes massage in a facial oil like Nykaa Skin Potion Anti-Pigmentation Facial Oil or Indulgeo Essentials Rose Gold Oil on clean skin. This routine has made my skin really happy!

For my hair, I stay away from heat styling my hair. This is the perfect time to give your hair a break. I apply Kama Ayurveda Bringadi Intensive Hair Treatment on the roots of my hair and Aaranyaa Hair Pack With Argan Oil on the rest of my hair for an hour before I wash my hair. It’s a simple routine, but it makes the hair smooth, shiny, and gives them a natural bounce without any styling!

Q: A DIY mask that has done wonders for you.

Answer: For face – Aloe Vera gel (right from the plant) mixed with two drops of tea tree oil(I love the one from The Body Shop). It clears up the face and helps keep it supple.
For hair – I mix an egg white into a small bowl of curd. It instantly gives you silky, shiny hair and improves the quality of your hair over time.

Q: What’s your take on cosmetic treatments?

Answer: I’m very intrigued; however, there’s something new in the market every single day, and I would not like to put my skin through all of that way too much. So I think finding a good skincare routine and then going for treatments every once in a while should work well.

Q: How often do you opt for a facial? Is there a particular facial you like?

Answer: Not too often actually. I’ve recently gotten into facials and haven’t decided a favourite yet!

Q: I know you love nail extensions like me. Do you like to keep it neutral with colours or opt for designs and embellishments?

Answer: I love nail art, but I’m more about mixing fun ideas and different textures than drawing something on.

Q: How do you keep your nails healthy in between extensions?

Answer: I give them their own time. I don’t use any nail paint or even a topcoat. I use argan oil from Colorbaron them every now and then and just let them be for a while. It’s very simple yet very effective.

Q: We know that beautiful skin has a lot to do with mental health, food and lifestyle. How do you deal with anxiety and stress?

Answer: I have started taking a lot of small breaks. Doing makeup tutorials is a big part of my job and that puts a lot of pressure on the skin. Especially during quarantine, the pressure of churning out content daily induces anxiety. I let both my skin and I breathe and just relax for some time without feeling guilty about it. That’s what works best for me!
