Spa Special: #2 Body Polish and Aromatherapy

[vc_row full_width=”” parallax=”” parallax_image=””][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text]I don’t know about you, but the moment you say the word ‘spa’, I imagine a beautiful spa, with positive energies, balanced chakras and a masseuse that knows how to transport you to another world.

It’s one thing to be invited for so many weddings this season, but if you’re the bride-to-be, or the bride’s sister, best friend, or even mother, you need to CHILL.

Seriously, the excitement of the wedding, the influx of hormones and emotions, and countless errands can sometimes wreak havoc on your mind and body.

So listen to me, and take a time out.

I went to Hotel Marriott situated in Aerocity, Terminal 3, New Delhi and was struck by calm on what had been a crazy Wednesday morning. Like all good spas, Quan Spa takes you in by its serenity, each part of it refurbished to appeal to the senses and calm you down.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1724″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][vc_column_text](Tip: If you’ve decided to go for a relaxing massage, don’t settle for the nearest spa. You deserve a trained staff and a great ambiance since you’re spending all that money.)

A cup of lemongrass tea and berries later, my spa therapist takes me to my very own suite.

After a foot ritual, she first starts with a body polish.

The Thing About A Body Polish:

While we scrub at home, a body polish is quite different. Like any other treatment done by a professional, a body polish uses a superior quality scrub with oil that is applied and massaged on all parts of your body.

Most salons recommend this to be a part of the bridal package but I’ve often heard my friends say that weren’t too satisfied. If done right, your skin can be glowing and smooth after this ritual.

My spa therapist use a dead sea salt scrub to slough off dead cells and exfoliate my skin. She used medium pressure, but if you have really sensitive skin, make sure you ask your therapist to use lighter strokes. She was quite thorough and took a good 30 minutes, using oil in between to make sure it was a smooth experience. Since the granules are really fine and granuler, there’s very little chance of breakouts.

A shower later, the difference was instant. My skin felt softer and more even toned. She explained that the effect will show from now till about 3 days, and will last for a week or so. Tip: you can go for it once every 3 weeks if you have your wedding coming up.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1725″ alignment=”center” border_color=”grey” img_link_large=”” img_link_target=”_self” img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]

Aromatherapy Massage

As the name suggests, an aromatherapy massage typically uses a combination of 2-3 essential oils. Apart from relieving you of stress, Quan Spa has also added a couple of Swedish and nueromuscular movements and techniques that also promote lymphatic drainage from the body.

Before the massage, I asked my therapist to use a different oil on my feet and back since they hurt from time to time. She recommended a mix of ginger and plant roots that helps soothe relax pain. For the rest of the body, she used a different oil (I remember smelling Patchouli) generously. Her strokes were defined and help relax my back, shoulders and neck: the 3 areas that tend to take the most amount of stress (besides the mind).

A 60-minute massage later, the massage came to an end. My therapist advised me to not shower. She explained saying that the oils used are lightweight and will penetrate better if you leave it on. I chose to rinse since I had to carry on with my day, but if you just have to head home, then you could consider it (it really wasn’t oily).

What? Body Polish (30 min) and Aromatherapy Body Massage (90 min)
Where? J W Marriott, Aerocity, Delhi
Time needed? 120 mins
Enjoyable? Oh, Yes!
Lasts for? 5-7 days
And moolah? Body Polish, Rs 2,500 and Aromatherapy Body Massage, Rs 3,500

P.S: Thank you to Pavni Sood and Dr Anand Kumar for a wonderful experience.

Stay tuned, there’s more to come.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
