Hey, there! Spring is officially hit us. And these are the only few days to enjoy the crisp in the air and wear a beautiful blue dress (you know this is India and things are going to get hot really soon!)
We could be Royals.
Duchess of Cambridge looks quite graceful when wearing this color, so I thought I must try to look like a royal. Plus, I have to admit, I’d underestimated the power of this shade. It has a lot of vivacities and pop to it and is great for days when you read more energy and good vibes!
After crushing on Pinterest looks for a while, I finally found a Dorothy Perkins dress that was on point.
What do I like about my Dorothy Perkins dress? Well, there are a few things. I like the pintucks on the top and a sash in the middle of it. The length is quite modest and hence the dress can be worn both at brunches and meetings too.
For my accessories, I went with this color blocking technique I learned last year and decided to pair with a lemon-mustard bag from Mast & Harbour. It’s not exactly the shade I wanted but doesn’t look half bad. You can also go for a pale pink with this outfit.
So how did I look leaner in this dress?
First up, is the fit of the dress. Since it’s a got a slight fare towards the end, it tends to actually make your legs longer. I already have longer legs but this tip really helps even out my figure.
I chose a fabric that is not only comfortable, and breezy but also makes you appear leaner: chiffon. I remember when I was thin, (and I mean very thin), chiffon saris didn’t look good on me. Now that I’m on the other side of the scale, I used it to my advantage.
I wore heels. I’ve recently started enjoying wearing heels and decided to wear my open-toe, nude heels from Clarks. Unfortunately, they are not super comfortable so I can’t wear them for more than 3 hours. The heel length is about 3 inches, but you can go higher or lower depending on your taste. I’d also suggest Orsay or kitten heels if you’re wearing this to work.
As for makeup, I kept it very natural. I just did a base to even out my skin and hide my dark circles. I did very light contouring and used a nude lipstick which frankly looks too light in photos. I would use a medium shade of brown or a bold shade of pink if you’re looking to make a statement.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this post!
