We all love spritzing our favourite perfume before stepping out of the house.
But here’s why you need to be a little cautious. A new study from the University of Rochester, finds that the more beauty products women use, the more chemical by-products turn up in their urine.
Certain chemicals found in cosmetic products, like BPA and phthalates, can lead to birth defects in women. In the study, those who used deodorants, nail paints and polish remover the previous day, had more than twice the level of mono-ethyl phthalate (MEP) than those who didn’t.
While it’s tough to avoid them completely, start by carefully reading labels of the beauty products you buy and use. Opt for non-scented, comedogenic products or at least those with natural fragrances.
