Sure, Indian Weddings are both big and loud, but you don’t need to be. Every bride has her tastes that she shouldn’t have to give up. On the biggest day of your personal life, look beautiful and comfy in your skin by being a minimalist bride.
Here’s Maia Sethna’s video on the same with Truly Bridal by Kalyan Jewellers
Minimalism is a trend that can be applied in every aspect of life and is slowly appealing to brides in order to look perfect on their big day. Here are a few tips to get you by:
1. Colour: You don’t have to wear a pink or a burgundy hued lehenga like everyone else. You can swap bright with nudes, and the good news is, they’re super trendy right now. Getting designer approval should only make it easier to find gold, cream, champagne and pastels colours. Add a dash of colour with brighter borders or a coloured chunni over the ensemble and you’re sorted.
2. Embroidery: More than the colour, the cut-work, so to say can make or break your look. If you don’t like heavy pieces, stay away from embellishments, sequins or zardosi work. Ari work, chikankari and subtle embroidery will appeal to you.
3. Jewellery: Instead of wearing four neckpieces on your big day, choose one. You can opt for a choker or a medium-length necklace that best complements your lehenga. Choose elegant, delicate-looking earrings and rings to complete the look. Ask yourself if you really want to wear a maang-tikka/sappha and choose subtle pieces in polki or kundan stones.
4. Makeup and Hair: The golden rule of my blog is to highlight one aspect of your face. For example, if you’re doing smokey eyes, then keep your lights neutral. And if you’re going with red lips, then keep it very simple on your eye makeup. Make sure you do a trial with the makeup artist you hire so that he/she knows how to highlight the best of your features and conceal imperfections.
