I’ve liked men’s perfumes for as long as I can remember. I used to borrow my Dad’s aftershave when he wasn’t looking. Ten years into the lifestyle industry, I’m equally (if not more) enamoured by fragrances designed for men as I am for women.
Which is why I was delighted to try out Salvatore Ferragamo’s latest launch, UOMO.
Packaging, UOMO
Right before my trip to Europe, I unpacked the perfume on my Instagram. The 50 ml EDT is two-toned: it’s see-through in the centre with the gold molecules glistening through the bottle. The sides of the bottle are embellished with designer’s label on it in black. Frankly, the design was a bit louder than usual which surprised me. But hey, what’s a man without surprises?

Concept, UOMO EDT
Literally translated, Uomo means man. The perfect Italian man, according to the fabulous designer Salvatore Ferragamo. Italian men are known for their distinct charm, tailored suits and love for cappuccinos. The perfume is a celebration of Italian men and their distinct lifestyle.
The real question is, do you have to be a man to wear the perfume?
I don’t think so.

Notes, UOMO EDP
The top notes are rather sweet with bergamot interspersed with cardamom. I couldn’t smell the pepper till about 15 minutes later. Along with tiramisu and orange blossoms. Endnotes have Tonka beans (my favourite!), sandalwood and cashmere wood.
A complex set of ingredients, the perfume starts on a sweet note and ends somewhere on woody notes.

Longevity
I took it with me to Basel (and other parts of Europe) and it lasts for about 5-6 hours which is very impressive when it comes to longevity.
If I were to speak about sillage, I’d say it’s heavy—or strong—like an espresso shot.

Overall impression
First Impression: A good buy for those who appreciate the distinct and unfamiliar.
You would love it if: If you like all things Italian, or if you have a thing for sweet, spice and everything nice.
Should I pick it up at Duty-Free? If you can handle it, sure
