We Tried It: Valentine’s Day Beauty Ritual At The Imperial, Delhi

We Tried It: Valentine’s Day Beauty Ritual At The Imperial, Delhi

It’s the middle of January, and I make my way to central Delhi on a Friday. After four days of calls, write-ups and social media calendars, I’m excited to be back to The Imperial Delhi. After taking a quick photo of their lovely flower arrangements, I make my way to the beloved Ambience, Imperial Salon.

Ambience, Imperial Salon

As we walk through the gallery and make our way to Imperial Salon, I realise I haven’t been to the salon in about a year. Yet the calming energies of the ambience and the warmth of the staff is just the same. I met Lalnun who tells me about that I’d be experiencing Valentine’s Day Beauty Package: a two hour special to groom your hair, nails and get a gorgeous glow just in time for the most “romantic” day of the year. While I’m not a fan of red roses or commercial days, I think any excuse to take care of yourself works for me!

I fill out a form and tell my therapist Lee about my skin: that my skin reacts to physical exfoliants and goes red easily if I step out sans sunscreen. She assures me that she will be using the Sufi range and using products according to my skin type.

Other than that, the package allows you to choose between a manicure and a pedicure. I went for the latter, since I’m soon going to get nail extensions again.

Review & Experience, The Imperial Radiance Facial

I make my way to the treatment room with Lee. Since it was a rather cold day in Delhi, I was a little concerned about the treatment as soon as I enter the treatment room, I realised its heated. This makes it easier for me to change into a robe and relax. As Lee customises both the light and room settings for me, I hold onto my cell phone. “ I have to keep taking photos,” I tell her, silently questioning if I can go hours without checking my phone. In the meantime, Lee starts the facial with a small massage routine and essential oils. The effect is instantaneous, I put my phone down. She then goes to take off my makeup, followed by a quick cleansing ritual. She then proceeds to use an exfoliant and proceeds to extracts blackheads. Her skill is that of a professional, her hands work in harmony and even the most painful part doesn’t seem to last long. This is followed by a facial massage that extends on my neck and shoulders. Not just relaxing, a good facial massage can help you increase blood circulation and help further lymphatic drainage. Now that I’m in my thirties, Lee tells me to start giving myself a good facial massage every now and then, she says.

After a relaxing massage, she applies a face mask meant for sensitive skin. While it dries, she continues to give me a foot rub, finding pressure points and knots I didn’t even know I had.

My skin looks a bit red but very clear, immediately after the massage. She applies rosewater as a toner along with sunscreen and helps me get ready for my foot ritual and blow dry.

Review, Foot Ritual, Blow Dry At The Imperial, Delhi

I first sit for my hair wash, and that’s when the stylist is shocked with my hairfall. I ask him to wash my hair quite gently and recommends a small hair ritual by Kerastase. As I make my way to my seat, another therapist is ready for my pedicure. The pedicure is about 40 minutes and is a great way to get ready for the month or for any big event like Valentine’s Day. The distinction, however, is in the details. If you’re a big fan of OPI, you’ll love the choices of nail paint at The Imperial Delhi.

My Valentine’s Day Beauty Day ends with a blow dry. Since my hair is breaking a lot, my hairdresser used low heat settings and didn’t go overboard with styling.

Final Word

The facial was very relaxing and rejuvenating and all the products were very gentle since they are from Sufi, a natural brand. However, my skin did break out, about a day later. That usually happens to me if I use a physical exfoliator or if I have open pores. The facial costs about Rs 4,000 + at the salon but in this package, it’s much more affordable. The pedicure was very thorough: it uses the best of products and also has a 20-minute massage as a relaxing highlight.

About The Package

If you like what you hear, you can avail this package for Rs 6,120 at The Imperial Salon between Feb 1-Feb 16, 2019.
