From a coffee date to our wedding dates, everything fell into place as soon as I met Srijan. It took us just 6 months to appreciate our compatibility and take the plunge! Srijan and I had a beautiful summer wedding at Diggi Palace, Jaipur. Scroll down to see what happened at our wedding.
After a beautiful mehendi and choora ceremony, both our families were in for the big moment: a big fat Jaipur wedding.
As afternoon gave way to pre-evening, the butterflies in my stomach fluttered even harder. As happy as I was about marrying Srijan, it was such a big deal (it still is!) and I just grew more nervous. And thanks to the people around me: Tarini, Pragati, mom, and mom in law (who was so sweet and reassuring) and Srijan, that I made it to the salon.
Once I was at the salon, the excitement in me kicked in.
I started getting my hair done. I’d given the reference of Anushka Sharma’s wedding hair to Anamika and she did a fabulous job of a top bun topped with mogra and pink roses.
As I headed to get my makeup done, my friend Tarini tried to order fries for me—a bride’s craving should never be missed, she said.
My makeup artist, Keshav gave me a beige-gold smokey eye with a winged eyeliner and of course, false eyelashes with oodles of mascara. And as for my base, we went for airbrush makeup which changed the game. I’d never tried it before and even though I felt my makeup made me look a shade fairer, the overall look was very natural. The base didn’t look cakey like it did on my engagement. Soon the compliments started pouring and I started feeling more and more confident.
I went to change into my lehenga from Asiana Couture. Designed by Payal Keyal, the lehenga was so beautiful yet so heavy, I was just praying I made it through the day without falling. I still didn’t feel like a bride though.
Now it was time for the final touch—the maangtika and the draping of the dupatta. And I think the moment, the nose ring was put on me, it changed my entire look.
It all became very real: this is what our journey had dialled down to—and it was happening and I was ready. When I came back to Diggi Palace, it was lit up and honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setup for a summer wedding on such short notice!
A 10-minute ride back to Diggi Palace and an hour of anticipation later, it was time to walk down to the hall.
When I walking towards Durbar Hall in Diggi Palace, I was all nerves. I was holding onto Tarini and Pragati’s hand during my walk.
But as soon as I saw Srijan, I was all smiles. My nerves gave way to excitement and we started enjoying ourselves.
Come time for pheras and I was soon feeling the Jaipur heat. Even though it had rained, I removed some of my jewellery and was sweating through my lehenga. It took me time to calm down but I finally started enjoying the wedding.
Moments like these are going to be memories for a lifetime.
