What’s up, guys? If you follow me on Instagram, you know I have been attending #AIFW/ AIFW AW ’17 organized by FDCI. As much as I was looking forward to Fashion Week, I was very late. So many things have been happening with work and my personal life that I had forgotten it was AIFW until a day before. So whatever you see is spur of the moment, last-minute outfits. I’m going to talk about my looks, my experience, what worked and what kinda didn’t.
Day 1: All about Floral Prints with H&M
I was very frazzled at Day 1. I had so much work that I was running from a meeting, realized I should pick something up from the mall and then head to AIFW which was at Jawarhlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road this time. I was actually eyeing a printed dress at H&M and decided if I buy this then I could take it with me to Bali (Yay!).
I thought this dress could work for a lot of occasions: summer days when I have to meet people, socialize or even attend events. It’s got PUFFED SLEEVES which is a huge win this season, along with a slight flare towards the bottom.
While the color blocking (tried and tested for a shoot earlier this month) worked, what didn’t work was that I paired it with my booties and I felt it made me look shorter or more fuller than I actually am. That, and the fact that this is the first time H&M sizing has not worked for me. The dress has that annoying peek-a-boo situation through its buttons. Pinning it up is the only option from now on.
There was no time to do anything with my hair: the hairstylist I usually work with said he couldn’t make it so I just decided to go about my day with a shampoo and blow-dry.
All in all: I had a great time on Day 1. I watched a lot of shows that day and the highlight had to be the Vogue Saree Show. I am going to talk about that more in my other posts!

Day 2: Nautical Stripes with PostFold
I know a lot of people go out of their way for Fashion Week, but for me, it’s very important to stay true to yourself. So it’s always good to collaborate with brands who speak to you.
This chevron-print maxi dress is something I can wear while I’m working, or I’m out with friends or family. It’s super comfortable and breezy: two things you will appreciate after spending hours at the Fashion Week. I chose to pair it with these closed white shoes that I’d bought online. They turned out to super uncomfortable and were one of the reasons I left earlier than planned.
As planned I’d really wanted to focus more on hair and makeup. I’d gone to a hairstylist with a few dutch braid references but we ended up doing a high ponytail ending at the nape of the neck with fish braids. I absolutely loved the braids but I wasn’t very happy with the lack of neatness from the front.
Day 2, I tried to add a little pop of color and used 2 lipsticks: Clinique Pop Lip Color in Matte which was super dehydrating for my lips (they were very flaky), and so I swiped some of The Face Shop Collagen Lipstick just to make them look plumper and to also blend in the colors.
Some of the shows like HUEMN really stood out for me. The vibe on Day 2 was fabulous in particular. But more on that, later 🙂

Day 4: Embracing the ruffles with Postfold
I was so tired and I had so much that I did not attend Day 3 although there were some fabulous shows. For my last day, i.e. Day 4, I wanted to keep things really chilled and just focus on one thing, which was my hair. I’m a big fan of buns and I went to my hairstylist for a sleek bun and I think she did a fabulous job!
Next up was my outfit. As you probably already know: anything feminine, flirty and exaggerated is in vogue. Ruffles, puffed sleeves, bell sleeves or any kind of detailing is appreciated. I found similar details in this striped blue top from Postfold and chose to wear it with white pants that I’d bought from Jabong last year.
The top was super comfortable and light and so were my pants. I decided to pair it with my nude heels from Clarks. Mind you, I’m still getting used to 3.5 inches of heels and wearing these for 4-5 hours is a challenge for me. I also decided to carry a handmade and handpainted Patachitra bag from my friend Abhimanyu Choudhary’s newly launched brand, Love Leather.
Since my hair was all tied up, I made sure I did a good base to make my face as flawless as possible. I used a darker color on my lips to give it that added dimension. I think the lipstick, heels and bag really came together and easily transitioned to an evening summer look.
While GUAPA and Ilk’s clothing stood out, I had the most amount of fun at H&M’s Sundown Party which also had Dia Mirza stopping by.
Thanks so much for reading and checking out these looks. I’d love to hear your comments on the same.
